Grilled Pizza (or oven directions)
This was something I have wanted to do for some time now - Grill a pizza!
So after a friday night of Junk food - and I mean junk! Lets have white castle frozen burgers, burbon glazed chicken tenders and some sort of steak and cheese mexican food product all from a box, oh the heartburn!
I have only self to blame since I called the hubby at 4:30 and asked him to pick up some junk food for dinner because I did not want to make pizza!
It was just too darned hot to cook inside!
Come saturday night! Pizza must be made!
Once a week it is almost demaded.
My regular crust was made! This I know by heart!
2.5 cups of Flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2.5 tsp of quick yeast (or one packet)
2 tblsp olive oil
1 cup HOT water
additional 1/4 cup flour to roll dough in
This is how I make the dough
Mix flour and yeast together in large mixing bowl or larger mixer let it stand for 10 minutes (to warm up to room temp)
add salt, garlic and continue to mix
slowly add oil then the warm water, and increase the speed of the mixer and continue to mix for 6 minutes at a med high speed.
If the mixture seems very sticky feel free to add a bit of flour but no more then an additional 1/4 cup.
Once the dough is good and doughY - (LOL) pull out of
the bowl and continue to kneed it on the counter with
a bed of flour below to stop the sticking.
Kneed the dough for about 15 times.
Then cut in half
Flour both halves and flatten like photo
cover both with clean dish towel for 10 -15 minutes.
(preheat Grill to medium heat)
(preeat Oven to 400degrees)
Once the two parts have doubled in size take one of the doughs and strech into the shape and thickness you desire
** I recommend that for outside grilling you get it nice and thin. this allows it to cook faster and evenly.
if you are cooking it inside feel free to make what ever thickness you like your crust - place on pizza stone (if metal pan Lower heat)
*inside oven stretch on pan and place all toppings on pizza
So stretch out the dough and run oil on the side down on the grill.
Wait 8-/+ minutes and make sure the lower side is crispy before flipping over.
Rub oil on the top part before flipping over.
Once flipped , place all toppings on and continue to cook - .
